Chanel Handbags
A woman who chooses a Chanel handbag accomplishes two things. First, she makes herself into something of a fashion symbol - Chanel handbags are uniquely beautiful. Second, she is paying tribute to the creator of the handbag, Coco Chanel, a remarkable woman.
Coco Chanel was far ahead of her time in terms of business acumen, risk taking, and challenging stereotypes of women. Chanel created innovative styles that both reflected a woman's feminine charms and liberated her from the constrictive and stuffy fashions of the day. She once said: “Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury.” Her name is still synonymous with sleek elegance and is familiar even to those who know nothing else about the world of fashion.
Who was Coco Chanel?
Coco Chanel was born Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel in 1883 in Samur France, She later modified her story to claim her birthplace as Auvergne ten years later in 1893. Her mother died when she was 6 years old, and her father left her and her four siblings in the care of relatives.
As a young woman, Gabrielle became ‘Coco’ during a stint as a club singer. It was here that she met investors who helped finance her beginnings in the fashion industry. She opened a business making hats for society women, which soon expanded to a chain of three shops. Her simple and striking designs became very popular.
